Staying safe on Dearlly

Last updated 31 October 2026

Dearlly is built for sweet moments, and we want every one of them to feel safe. Here's how we protect you, and how you can protect yourself.

What we do

  • Private letters open only with their link. They never show up on search engines, and the sender can take them back.
  • Every photo is cleaned of hidden details like your location, and checked for nudity before anyone sees it.
  • Letters can't contain links or long numbers like bank accounts, which is how many scams start.
  • Secret admirer letters are limited to 3 a day and can be blocked with one tap. Dearlly always knows who sent them.
  • Games are played by two adults who both chose to play. Intense games need both to opt in, and are never explicit.
  • We read and act on every report.

Never send money

Nobody on Dearlly should ever ask you for money, airtime, gift cards, bank details or codes, however sweet their letter. That's a scam. Don't send anything. Report it, and block them.

If a letter or post upsets you

  • Tap "Report this letter" at the bottom of the letter, or ⋯ then Report on a post. The sender won't know it was you.
  • For a secret admirer letter, tap "Block this secret admirer". It disappears for good.
  • In any letter email, tap "Stop messages from this sender", or "Never email me again" to stop all Dearlly emails.

Going on a date

Date invitations are lovely, but if you're meeting someone for the first time:

  • meet in a busy public place, like the restaurants and spots in our list;
  • tell a friend where you're going and who with, and share your live location;
  • arrange your own way there and back;
  • trust your feelings: you can always say "Not this time", or leave.

Photos

Only share photos everyone in them is happy to share. Never send private photos to anyone you haven't met, and remember that anything you share online can be copied.

If you're in danger

If you or someone else is in immediate danger in Nigeria, call 112, the national emergency number. Then tell us, so we can act on the account.
