Romantic date ideas in Lagos
Published 1 Nov 2026 · 4 min read
Lagos has no shortage of places to take someone. The hard part is choosing, and then getting there on time. This guide groups ideas by the kind of date you have in mind, and every place in it is one that published Lagos guides recommend.
Prices and opening hours change, so treat the prices below as a rough guide and check with the place before you go. For the full list, with the guides behind each place, see our Lagos date ideas.
First, plan around the city
- Choose a side. Pick somewhere close to where you both are, or where you'll be that day. A date on the Island when you both live on the Mainland can mean more time in traffic than together.
- Leave earlier than you think. Arriving calm matters more than arriving dressed perfectly.
- Book ahead. Popular restaurants and rooftops fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, and much earlier around Valentine's Day.
- Think about daytime. A late lunch or an afternoon out is often quieter, easier on traffic, and still feels like an occasion.
A romantic dinner
For a classic evening, Victoria Island has the widest choice. Shiro Lagos is one of the most recommended in the guides we follow, at about ₦35,000 a person according to Discover Lagos. The Ona is reported at about ₦40,000 a person, and The Piano Bistro from about ₦35,000.
Other names that come up again and again include Nok by Alara, RSVP, Rora Lagos, Slow and The Yellow Chilli on the Island, Nostalgia and Zayda in Lekki Phase 1, and La Taverna and The Garden in Ikoyi. On the Mainland, guides suggest Cilantro and La Giara at the Sheraton in Ikeja, and Fiora Gardens, listed for dining outdoors.
A rooftop evening
Rooftops suit an evening that starts with the view. Sora Lagos is among the most listed, and among the priciest, at about ₦50,000 a person according to Discover Lagos. Sky Restaurant & Lounge at the Eko Hotel and Kaly are also on Victoria Island, as is Túraká.
In Lekki Phase 1, guides point to Mood Lagos, The Terrace and The View Rooftop. On the Mainland, Safron Rooftop is in Ikeja GRA.
By the water
For a table near the water, guides suggest 788 on the Sea and Sailors Lounge in Lekki Phase 1, and Hard Rock Cafe on Victoria Island for something louder and more playful.
A beach day or a getaway
Tarkwa Bay is reached by boat from Lagos Harbour, which makes the journey part of the date. Atican Beach is in Lekki.
For a night or a weekend away, guides list La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ibeju-Lekki and Whispering Palms Resort in Badagry. If you're planning a surprise trip, a vacation invite lets them open the news like a letter.
Outdoors, for less
Not every good date costs much. Lekki Conservation Centre is one of the most recommended outdoor spots, and Lufasi Nature Park sits along the Lekki–Epe Expressway. In the city, Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park in Ikeja and Muri Okunola Park on Victoria Island are both listed as budget-friendly. Freedom Park on Lagos Island mixes the outdoors with art.
Art and culture
Galleries give you something to talk about. Nike Art Gallery in Lekki is often recommended and listed as budget-friendly. Terra Kulture on Victoria Island and Rele Gallery in Ikoyi are also in the guides.
Something playful
If sitting across a table feels like too much pressure, do something together. Guides suggest Upbeat Recreation Centre and Rufus & Bees in Lekki, Escape Room 33 and Trib3 on Victoria Island, and Zen Archery in Ilupeju, from about ₦15,000 an hour according to Pulse. For a creative evening, Ceracerni Art Hub in Lekki Phase 1 runs paint-and-sip sessions.
A slower day
For a quiet day of looking after each other, Oriki Spa has locations in Ikoyi and Victoria Island.
Ask them properly
Once you've chosen, make the asking part of the date. On our Lagos date ideas page, every place has an "Invite them here" button: it opens a date invitation with the place already filled in. Add the time and a note, seal it, and send the link. They open the envelope and say yes.
Found the place?
Invite them with a sealed date invitation: the place, the time and your words.
